Blogger's Quilt Festival for the third time. There are hundreds of participants; not only showing their quilts, but also telling the stories behind them. Thank you so much Amy for doing this!
This is my second time joining the fun. My entry is a wallhanging made in 1999. It was the first mystery quilt I made. The pattern was from a foreign magazine; a Belgium friend translated it into English and sent to me every time there was a new part of it. At that time there wasn't any quilt shop in my area. When I knew how many light, medium and dark fabrics I needed, I asked my eldest daughter in Bergen to help me. I hadn't said anything about what colours I wanted. My daughter didn't want to decide, so it was the staff at the quilt shop that made the decision. I must say I was a bit nervous when I received the package - it could be colours I didn't like at all - but I was happily surprised. During the next months it was exciting to get the next part of the mystery from my friend and make progress. When the quilt was finished, I was satisfied with the result.
Now I'll have a cup of tea and enjoy visiting more blogs.

very nice - sometimes the staff at the fabric stores seem to know best don't they! I have had help like that also.

I think your quilt is just lovely- a mystery quilt is fun to make but can be a little scary when you don't know what it is going to look like.

That was brave of you to let someone else choose your fabrics, but it added another element of mystery to the project. How fun! And the quilt turned out very nice. I love the red sashings.
